How we evaluate tools
Sources
We read each vendor's own website and help pages and record every source URL with the date we checked it. Figures found only on third-party sites are labelled as such.
Verification levels
- Checked: key facts and price confirmed on the vendor's pages.
- Partly checked: some details confirmed; others not.
- Not yet verified: we could not confirm the vendor's pages.
Small-home fit
We judge fit from published pricing, contract terms and scope, with a small family-run home in mind.
Respect for families
For every tool we note how it may affect grieving families, based on the vendor's published features: for example, whether families are charged, contacted for sales, or speaking with software.
What we never do
We do not publish star ratings, invented reviews, testimonials or audience figures. We do not accept payment to change a listing.
Common questions
Can vendors pay for a better review?
No. Sponsors pay only for clearly labelled placement. They cannot edit, remove or improve a listing.
Why do some listings say "Pricing on request"?
We only show a price we found on a source we cite. If the vendor does not publish one, we say so instead of guessing.
What does "Not yet verified" mean?
We could not load or confirm the vendor's own pages on our last check. Those pages carry only our initial notes and are hidden from search engines until verified.
